Format
The real AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner exam (CLF-C02) has 65 questions in 90 minutes. Each question is either multiple choice (one correct answer out of four) or multiple response (two or more correct answers out of five or more). AWS scores 50 of the questions; the other 15 are unscored and are not marked. This practice exam is one 65-question, 90-minute set of single-answer multiple-choice questions with four choices, spread across the four exam domains by their published weights. All questions on this site are original AI-written practice questions, not real exam questions.
Passing score
AWS reports a scaled score from 100 to 1,000, and the minimum passing score is 700. The exam is compensatory: you only need to pass the exam as a whole, not each domain. Scaled scores cannot be turned into a percent of questions correct, so this site uses 70% correct as a practice target only. It is not an official conversion.
Eligibility
There are no prerequisites. AWS says candidates could have up to 6 months of exposure to the AWS Cloud, but this is not required. The exam is offered at Pearson VUE test centers or as an online proctored exam, and the fee listed by AWS is 100 USD.

AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner study tips

Study order
Start with Cloud Concepts (24%) so the basic words, such as Region, elasticity, and pay as you go, make sense. Next study Cloud Technology and Services (34%) and Security and Compliance (30%), which together are about two-thirds of the exam. Finish with Billing, Pricing, and Support (12%), a smaller chapter that is quick to review.
Topics people often miss
Cloud Technology and Services is the largest chapter and has many services with similar names, so learn each one as a single sentence (for example, S3 stores objects, EBS is a disk for one EC2 instance). In Security and Compliance, many mistakes come from mixing up look-alike services such as GuardDuty, Inspector, and Macie, or CloudTrail and Config. Practice the shared responsibility model with examples until you can say right away whether a task belongs to AWS or the customer.
Test day tips
You have 90 minutes for 65 questions, which is a little under a minute and a half per question, so mark hard questions and come back later. Answer every question, because you cannot tell which ones are unscored. The pass mark is 700 on a scale of 100 to 1,000 for the exam as a whole, so a weaker chapter can be made up by stronger ones. Read each question for how many answers it asks for.

AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner exam trends

AWS publishes four content domains for CLF-C02: Cloud Technology and Services is the largest at 34%, followed by Security and Compliance (30%), Cloud Concepts (24%), and Billing, Pricing, and Support (12%). Most questions describe a simple business need and ask which AWS service, pricing option, or responsibility fits it. AWS revised the CLF-C02 exam guide several times in 2026 (mostly the lists of in-scope and out-of-scope services), so check the current exam guide before you test.

Learn what each core service is for in one sentence, because many questions are "which service should they use?" Then learn the shared responsibility model and IAM best practices well, since Security and Compliance is 30% of the exam. Finish with the EC2 pricing options and the billing tools, which are easy points once you know the differences.

About AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner

AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner (exam CLF-C02) is the entry-level AWS certification. It is meant for people in technical, sales, finance, and management roles alike, and you do not need to write code or build systems to pass.

FAQ

Q. What is the passing score for AWS Cloud Practitioner?
AWS reports a scaled score from 100 to 1,000, and 700 is the minimum passing score. It is a scaled score, not a percent, so this site uses 70% correct only as a practice target.
Q. How many questions are on the exam and how long is it?
The CLF-C02 exam has 65 questions in 90 minutes. Fifteen of them are unscored questions that AWS uses to test new content, and you cannot tell which ones they are, so answer every question.
Q. Does the real exam have questions with more than one answer?
Yes. Some questions are multiple response, where you pick two or more correct answers from five or more choices. This practice exam uses only single-answer questions with four choices, so read the real questions carefully for how many answers they ask for.
Q. Do I need technical experience?
No. There are no prerequisites. AWS says candidates could have up to 6 months of exposure to the AWS Cloud, but this is not required, and the exam does not ask you to write code.
Q. Are these real AWS exam questions?
No. AWS keeps its exam questions confidential. Every question on this site is an original AI-written practice question based on the published exam guide, and some may contain errors. Please report anything that looks wrong.
